| Mace is a 2006 half Welsh/half quarter pony. 13 hands. He has a champion Welsh grandsire on his dam's side, and Sugar Bars from his sire's side. Mace was gelded at eight months. He has been worked with from the time he was foaled. As a yearling he began serious groundwork, Clinton Anderson style. He works in the round pen, giving inside turns, hooking up and yielding to pressure. He works on the lungeline and is very willing to please.
Even when he was too young to ride he was being prepped for trail riding. The kids took him for walks in the pasture and woods to get him ready.
Spring 2008 we began his u/s training. He was ready and did well. Here is his first ride, in the round pen at home.
Mace was loped right away under saddle. We like to ask our horses for a brief lope the first or second ride.
Mace has been on several trail rides. He goes over bridges, creeks, logs. He goes at a w/t/c very well. Loads, ties, stands, clips and bathes. His ground manners are good, and he's been desensitized to lots of different scary noises and movements.
Mace is for sale because the kids are losing interest in riding, and in any case are quickly outgrowing him. He is our only pony that does not pull a cart, so I can't exercise him. He is not completely finished, but will make an excellent trail pony and has potential as a jumper. And of course, he would be a great cart pony, he's used to all the noise and trappings of carts.
